Dr. Conrad Murray has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.
Democratic Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania has died. He had been hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Arlington, Virginia being treated for complications from gall bladder surgery.
Old Man Winter isn't done yet. Another snowstorm is crawling across the Midwest and taking aim at the East Coast.
Howard Stern is confirming reports suggesting he may be in the running to take Simon Cowell's seat on Fox's "American Idol." On his satellite show today, Stern told listeners it might be possible.

Monday Close 02/08/2010:
Stock prices fell today, with pressure coming from concerns over sovereign debt issues in Europe. Those concerns were offset slightly by Hasbro and CVS Caremark raising outlooks and beating expectations with their fourth-quarter results. At the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 104 points to close at 99-08. It was the first close below the ten-thousand mark for the Dow since November 4th. The broader S&P 500 shed nine points to 10-57 while the Nasdaq was down 15 points to 21-26. Oil prices gained 70 cents to settle at 71-dollars-89 cents a barrel.

Ashley Furniture hopes to open 300 new lower-cost franchise stores this year. The Arcadia-based manufacturer says the stores will offer furniture at a single price — for example, all sofas for $399, rugs for $99, or five-piece dining room sets for $399.
Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan believes high unemployment rates are moving toward a turnaround, but not in an aggressive manner.
"Avatar" is no longer the number-one movie in North America. The new romantic flick "Dear John" broke the science fiction fantasy's seven-week hold on the top spot by bringing in an estimated 32-point-four-million dollars.
